Laser Wart or Corn Removal
Description
– Warts are viral, bumpy formations with an uneven and dense surface, callous skin growths. In the center of a wart, small black dots may be visible, which are thrombosed tiny blood vessels. Warts can appear anywhere on the body, including the face and genitals; most commonly they are found on the soles of feet or palms. Warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV).
– Corns are foot calluses that extend deeper into the dermis. Corns can be located on heels, soles, and toes. Pressure on the formation can cause pain. They develop from prolonged pressure or friction on the foot – to protect the skin, skin cells begin to intensively produce keratin, resulting in skin thickenings, or corns.
There are several over-the-counter solutions and patches available in pharmacies, but generally a more effective method is freezing with liquid nitrogen, or cryotherapy (3-6 procedures every 1–3 weeks for complete removal, sometimes more), and laser removal (usually one procedure is sufficient). Laser beams remove the skin formation completely, without scarring or with less noticeable scars. There are situations where formations may start growing back over time and require repeat procedures.
Laser wart or corn removal is painless, and anesthesia is used in the area where the formation is being removed. After wart or corn removal, a crust forms on the skin, which comes off on its own over time. After the procedure, the removal site is treated antiseptically and a bandage is placed over it.
Before coming to the procedure:
