Filler Dissolution

Description

Hyaluronidase is a genetically engineered protein enzyme that works only on hyaluronic acid-based fillers. This enzyme can dissolve the hyaluronic acid molecule and remove existing filler. The hyaluronidase enzyme is also naturally present in our body. Effectiveness depends on hyaluronic acid concentration, amount, etc.
The result of hyaluronidase injection may be seen in about 7-14 days, after which a new procedure may be necessary to dissolve the filler sufficiently. We recommend finding time for a consultation before coming to the procedure, where the aesthetic medicine nurse will individually assess procedure suitability and possible results, taking into account the person’s age, lifestyle and anatomical characteristics.

Unwanted filler results can be dissolved and corrected with the enzyme hyaluronidase. This may be needed, for example, if the wrong technique, preparation or amount was used during filler injection, if an unnatural result has occurred, filler encapsulation, migration to surface skin layers. Also if a dangerous complication has occurred – blood vessel blockage or another side effect.

The decision regarding procedure suitability is made by the Aesthetic Medicine Clinic doctor; the procedure is always preceded by a doctor’s consultation. Aesthetic medicine nurses perform injection procedures under the doctor’s supervision.

Before the procedure, a skin test is performed on the forearm to monitor for allergic reaction. Generally, hyaluronidase only causes local allergic reaction, but there is also a risk of anaphylaxis.

What to consider after the procedure?
– At least 14 days must pass between dissolution and the next dissolution or filler injection
– Bruises may occur as a side effect, resolving in about 7 days. Arnica-based gels available from pharmacies can be used for faster healing of hematomas.
– Local allergy, angioedema or urticaria may occur. For allergy or swelling, oral antihistamines (Loratin, Zyrtec, etc.) may be used.
– Makeup products should not be used for at least 12 hours after the procedure
– Avoid saunas, spas and hot baths for at least 2 weeks
– Avoid exercise for 2 days
– Avoid dental treatment for about 1 week
– Use sun protection factor (SPF 50) cream daily
– Avoid massaging and facial treatments for at least 2 weeks
– Swelling should be expected after the procedure, which can be reduced with cold compress and allergy medication. We recommend not planning important events for the same day.

Contact the specialist who performed the procedure if you have any concern or doubt.
